Dundee’s Copper Lungs has hit the ground running in 2024, returning to the music scene with a bang after a series of brilliant releases, including Falling and Life Your Way.
Their new single Pieces of Me, which dropped on the 8th of November, is like that deep breath you take after a storm has passed. It’s a song that’s not just about love, but about that love: the one that came into your life when you needed it most. Looking back at everything you’ve been through, you realise that tough times made you stronger, better, and brought you to this place of happiness.
"The song basically wrote itself in an hour," says songwriter Darren. "It was one of those rare moments where the music just flows naturally, and before I knew it, I sent it to the guys and we all agreed: this had to be our next single."
Pieces of Me initially had a more indie vibe but evolved through the band's natural inclination to amp up the intensity with heavier sounds and synths. The result? An anthemic pop-rock banger with soaring guitar riffs and ambient, synth-laden textures that add all the vibrant energy Copper Lungs loves to play with.
Having shared stages with the likes of Fatherson, Vukovi, and The Xcerts, and earning praise from BBC Radio 1 Introducing and Amazing Radio, Copper Lungs is driven to match — and surpass — the successes they've already achieved as they explore a new chapter of their musical journey. "We’ve been breaking our own rules lately," says Darren. "We’re letting each song take its own journey. 'Pieces of Me' has definitely been one of those tracks that started in one place and ended in another.”

Throughout their career, Copper Lungs has toured the UK, sharing the stage with notable Scottish acts such as Fatherson, Vukovi, and The Xcerts.
