London-based artist CATTY has announced the release of her long-awaited debut EP Healing Out Of Spite, set for release next month on 18th October via AWAL.

The ambitious 7-track project was directly inspired by CATTY's cancelled Vegas wedding - the fallout of which she navigates with zestful, fiery aplomb. Featuring the previously released singles: the vengeful "I Dated A Monster", the optimistic synth-pop of the EP's title track, the bold, brash and seething "I Wish I Gave You Hell" - along with newly released single "Actress" - with every new release CATTY strikes the perfect chord with her swiftly growing fanbase.

Speaking about the release of her debut EP next month - CATTY says:

“This is my first body of work and my god is my body in it. Every single song in here is a lived experience. It truly is the story of the last couple of years of my life. And it’s not pretty, but it’s fucking entertaining.

There’s an anger in here, for sure, and that’s probably what you’ll hear the first time you listen to it. But it truly isn’t about that for me. It does have a venomous flare, granted, but it *is* an EP about healing. It’s just that sometimes that looks like reconnecting with nature and meditating but sometimes that looks like cussing someone out and letting them go."

It's been a whirlwind 12 months for CATTY. From selling out her debut headline show in 20 minutes (upgrading to a bigger venue and selling that out almost instantly too), through support slots with Dylan and Beth McCarthy and a once in a lifetime opportunity opening for her idol, Stevie Nicks at BST Hyde Park this summer (the opportunity itself arising due to CATTY sending a voice-note plea to the booker and subsequently interviewed by BBC News), CATTY's on-stage energy is captivating.

CATTY has received widespread press adoration this year from NME Magazine (who named her a Breakout artist), Popjustice who nominated the new EP's title track in their beloved Twenty Quid Music Prize this year, along with key tips from tastemaker publications The Line of Best FitOfficial Charts, Dork Magazine, DIY Magazine and many more.

Elsewhere there's been phenomenal unwavering support from Spotify (she has featured as the cover of Spotify's editorial playlist Fresh Finds: Pop and New Pop UK) and BBC Radio 1 (Mollie King, Maia Beth).

CATTY covers a lot of ground with her biting lyrics and unapologetic take downs – from a cancelled Vegas wedding through to revenge-fuelled anthems, but the project has its softer, more reflective moments too. Doubled with her writing's emotionally tumultuous subject matter, CATTY's distinct sound is solidified across the EP, drawing inspiration from the '70s and '80s, legends like her beloved Stevie Nicks and Billy Idol, as well as queer trailblazers like St. Vincent she blurs the lines between pop, rock and even country when she opts to strips things back.

With largely unfiltered lyrics about relationships and navigating life as a queer woman and her candid approach to social media, CATTY invite everyones into her chaos drawing her fans further and further into her world. Her distinctive powerhouse vocals and emotional songwriting pack a heavy punch. Healing Out Of Spite is for anyone who has ever doubted CATTY.

New EP 'Healing Out Of Spite' is out 18th October. CATTY headlines Lafayette in London on 4th October.
