Bury Singer-Songwriter Danny Darlington Returns With Dreamy New Single 'Freya' - out 3rd August 2024

It might have been a minute since Bury-based troubadour Danny Darlington last released a single, but that doesn’t mean the solo artist has been resting on his laurels. Indeed, much has been going on behind the scenes, with Darlington honing his sound perfectly in that time.

New single ‘Freya’ is the first product of said honing. Three and half minutes of indie-inspired dream-pop, the track originally started life as a joke between friends. “I originally wrote the chorus for this song as a joke after my friend, Freya, asked me to write a song about her in high school,” Darlington explains. “Three years later I found a recording of it and decided to make it into a full song by creating a story of two friends who clearly have developed feelings for each other but are also trying to deal with trauma from past relationships. It's hard to form a healthy relationship as it is, never mind when you're hardly ever sober.”

In a testament to Darlington’s ability as a singer-songwriter, the song is as emotional as it is relatable, and is yet another step in Darlington’s ascent to the top of his game.
