Bury-based Solo Artist Danny Darlington Returns With A/A Side Single 'Falling'/'I'm Not Romeo'
Though it may have been a while since Bury-based singer-songwriter Danny Darlington last dropped a single, he’s more than making up for it with the release of not one, but two new singles at the same time. Following on from 2021 tracks ‘Parma Violets’ and ‘Vodka and Cola’, ‘I’m Not Romeo’ and its sister track ‘Falling’ will land on May 20th.
Clocking in at just under three minutes, ‘...Romeo’ is a short a sugar-sweet indie pop offering that skitters and jangles perfectly to its conclusion, while ‘Falling’ takes a somewhat more sombre yet also more expansive approach, allowing it to feel as emotional as it is enchanting.
Indeed, both tracks are two sides of the same coin however, with each track exploring the soaring highs and crushing lows of romantic relationships. And while each track harbours its own distinct aesthetic, thanks in no small part to the differing production approaches as well as differing influences, this release showcases Darlington’s chops as a songwriter, without showing away from both the humour and the sadness inherent in life.
