THE BODY MOVES, PT.II
1ST MARCH 2024
Demeter's 'The Body Moves, Pt. II' is a continuation and progression of Demeter's sound with the three previously released singles 'Things To Do', 'Your Oracle (Is Showing)' and 'The Breaks'. These tracks are accompanied by the brand new 'While You're Gone'. 'While You're Gone', showcases Demeter's harmonic progression with strong harmonies throughout and a groove that skips along. The track's climax brings a heavier sound with indie rock influences, heavy drums and lots of guitars while maintaining the blissful vocal melodies that can be heard throughout.
THE BREAKS
26TH JANUARY 2024
'The Breaks' is a sonically charming skip into the bliss of Demeter's harmonic composition. This empowering anthem of self assurance will make you feel at peace with yourself and give you the self confidence and assurance you've been looking for. With guitars reminiscent of REM and vocal harmonies creating a Sylvan Esso esque wall of sound the chorus is an encapsulating and emmersive musical experience for all.
YOUR ORACLE (IS SHOWING)
17TH NOVEMBER 2023
Your Oracle (Is Showing) is a hypnotic break up anthem with notes of REM, Big Thief, and Regina Spektor and a chorus that will help you finally delete your ex’s number. An ethereal daze of a song that wonders about all things we can blame for the ending of a story - chance, choice, fate, the planets, and people. Do we blame it on the sun? Should we blame it on their father? “Reading tea leaves, speaking tongues, tracing lines on hands to where the heart belongs,” it asks what we consult for signs and understanding when the text is over, and how does one stop looking for more? With a hard, rebuking, eruption of a chorus that makes you want to move, Your Oracle (Is Showing) reminds you that you hold your own power, already - divination not required.
THINGS TO DO
6TH OCTOBER 2023
Things To Do is a smoky sonic simmer as intimate as a midnight phone call with vocals that ooze, remeniscent of Patti Smith or Alison Mosshart, and a wall of sound build like Sylvan Esso. A sensual song of femme empowerment meant to remind you of what you long for and who longs for you - the verse says, “Tell me where you want to go, tell me if you’ll take it slow - I don’t have a thing to do tonight.” It’s about owning your wants, being vulnerable and leaping into the ecstatic beauty of a lust you can swim in. With a driving bass and a build that grows, Things To Do explodes into a wave of choral sound and distorted guitar that pulls you miles away from where you started - like any great love.
