Brett Matthews Releases "Tomorrow" Blending Melancholy and Hope
Brett Matthews, known for his thoughtful and touching compositions, released his sophomore single "Tomorrow" on March 22 through HalfLife Records and Only Gold Records. Produced by the renowned Nova Scotian hip-hop legend and producer Classified, "Tomorrow" blends melancholy with hope, urging listeners to cherish the present.
Brett Matthews, a Cape Breton native, redefines Americana with influences from R&B to Country, akin to Bon Iver and City & Colour. Starting music at 13, he joined Classified's band in 2019, playing over 40 shows. Brett's achievements include recent performances at JUNOfest and opening for the acclaimed singer-songwriter, Kellie Loder. His song "If I Die Today (feat. Classified)" has been selected for the top 25 finalists in the American Songwriter Song Contest and has been chosen as a semi-finalist in other international songwriting competitions. Brett has been invited to participate in Canada's Got Talent and his upcoming ECMA performance will be featured on Rogers TV. Brett's exponential growth on TikTok can be attributed to the overwhelmingly positive reception of his live streaming sessions, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the industry. His debut single, "If I Die Today" received over 300 spins at Canadian radio and was playlisted by Spotify on New Music Country Weekly and Country Frontier.
With Brett's mix of soft vocals and strong message to push on - and fight to hold on, the song takes you on the journey of finding and offering help for those who need it most. The key lyric, "tomorrow may never come" is in reference to how we are never promised tomorrow, so we should be living in the moment, and be the most present and we can be with ourselves and those around us.
