You can watch the video for Cruel State Of Mind right now!

Meaningful songwriting is the core of Black Water County's attraction, explaining the concept behing the new track Shan (Vocals, tin whistle, melodica) explains:

"Cruel State of Mind is our own familiar love song for the ages, full to the brim of agonised imagery – “like the deaf leading the blind” and “full-circle, like Sisyphus’ stone”, we wanted to hammer home the feeling of thoughts going round and round your head with no respite. The song hits its climax with a passionate U-turn. “Something’s got to give”-  can we ever escape our own vicious cycles? “I’ll leave it all behind unless it leads me back to you” - ultimately ends up where we started in the hold out for love’s return."

"Despite the recent dystopian environment the human race has had to endure with the undoing of habits and the re-writing of thought patterns, there are some things that will never NOT be tangled up in the human experience. This exasperated love song serves us all; past, present and future."

Cruel State Of Mind is the second single to be released from the band' upcoming third studio album, 'The Only Life Worth Living', the full details of which will be coming soon. The first single and title track from the the new album can be experienced on Spotify, Youtube or your platform of choice!

About Black Water County

Hailing from South West UK, and celebrating a decade making music together, award-winning folk punk outfit Black Water County have deviated over time, from the well-trodden path of teenage insolence (plus a lot of booze) to a vigilant state of introversion; hoping to gleam affinity through stories of the downtrodden and heartbroken. With a necessary touch of spirit and spirits.

In both 2016 and 2018, Black Water County won their place on Fireball’s ‘Fuelling the Fire Tour’ supporting Less Than Jake, Flogging Molly, The Bronx, The Skints and more. With extensive and relentless touring, Black Water County have seen numerous sold out headline shows and tours, To date the bands’ UK festival appearances have included WOMAD, Boomtown Fair, Beautiful Days, Belladrum, Black Deer, Tunes in the Dunes, Camp Bestival, Larmer Tree, Teddy Rocks and Takedown Festival, along with hundreds of other festival appearances across the UK, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, The Netherlands and France.

Their debut album 'Taking Chances' was released in 2017, with the sophomore album 'Comedies and Tragedies' in 2020 being rudely interrupted by a global pandemic. Picking up when life live shows returned, the band toured the UK twice in 2022, finally able to bring the 2nd album to sold out venues across the UK.

Ready to take on the next decade together, Black Water County are evolving throughout 2023, with refined musical direction and purpose. The journey is only just starting and everyone is invited to raise a glass and join the party.
