Message From the Artist:
“The debut album from nihilistic noise rock duo BISGSTRUT is an unhinged display of unbridled ego, arrogance, aggression, and rage tempered by moments of utter defeat, spiritual crisis, and self-reflection. Inspired by all manners of 90's noise rock gems that the members grew up on from Jesus Lizard to Shellac, BIGSTRUT puts a decidedly darker spin on things from the pain of their own life experiences without losing the immensely groovy and fun nature of playing through a cranked amp with a grooving beat. BIGSTRUT's self-titled debut will take listeners through a journey of pride, arrogance, bitterness, sorrow, and defeat and leave them wanting to be taken through the blender yet again."

- Nick Turner, BIGSTRUT

About the Album

With their debut album BIGSTRUT show us that noise rock did not in fact fade out in the 90s but continues to wow and captivate fans to this day. With the likes of this debut, Chat Pile's 2022 masterpiece God's Country and Model/Actriz's 2023 opus Dogsbody, it’s hard not to see a revival movement taking place.

A whole new generation of artists have arisen, with their own attitude problems, anger towards contemporary society and a healthy respect and adoration for those who paved the way decades before. It’s clear that these bands, BIGSTRUT included have drawn influence from the likes of Jesus Lizard, Steve Albini, UNSANE and other pioneers. However, each has adapted these influences and created something new, fresh, innovative, and exciting.

In the case of BIGSTRUT's debut the band work in elements of sludge-based filth and aggression, but maintain that groovy, technical yet DIY lo-fi energy and aesthetic that noise rock is famous for. For some added complexity and nuance, the band also weaves elements of post-hardcore, post-punk and psychedelic rock into the fabric of their sonic DNA.

This is an album that will have you banging your head just as frequently as it will have you grooving and singing along. There's a rawness and aggression there, but also a sense of self-awareness and reflection that many will relate to and appreciate.

By this point in their musical journey Nick Turner and Jared Moran are so comfortable working together that regardless of the genre they play it feels natural and cohesive. Not only is this no exception, but it feels even clearer than usual that the two had a blast making this album. While the music may be raw and spiteful, there's an underlying sense of freedom and enjoyment that those who pay attention will pick up on.

So if you're one of those people who thought that noise rock was dead, then sadly you've been robbed of years’ worth of fantastic music. Repent for your sins today by blasting BIGSTRUTS monumental debut on loud and on repeat.
