Beyond the Pale Announces Release Date and Artwork for ‘Monument in Time’
EP Out on April 27 in Commemoration of Beloved Guitarist Jeroen Van Donselaar
Death/thrash metal band Beyond the Pale, featuring former members of renowned Dutch bands Altar, Disquiet, and Martyr among others, will release their highly anticipated debut EP, ‘Monument in Time’, on April 27. It was exactly on this date when guitarist Jeroen van Donselaar (1972-2022) died from cardiac arrest halfway through the band’s debut show. The release honors Jeroen's memory and musical legacy.
'Monument in Time' was recorded at Mass Audio Studios (Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy, Charlotte Wessels of Delain, Bloodgod, Mark Jansen of Epica and Mayan, Daniël de Jongh of Textures and Karmaflow, Metropole Orchestra, etc.) in Utrecht, Netherlands. The recordings, six blazing tracks with soul purging riffs, and the distinctive grunts by female vocalist Janneke de Rooy, showcase the raw intensity and musical prowess that Beyond The Pale has become known for. The EP encapsulates the band's knack for delivering brutal yet catchy riffs that will stay behind like little earworms.
Mastered by the esteemed Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios (Sepultura, Kreator, At The Gates, Amon Amarth, Carcass, Devin Townsend, etc.), 'Monument in Time' promises to captivate fans with its relentless aggression, intricate melodies, and a profound emotional depth that pays homage to the band's fallen comrade.
Jeroen van Donselaar, a virtuosic guitarist and one of the founding fathers of Beyond The Pale, contributed immensely to the band's sound and vision. His talent, passion, and infectious energy left an indelible mark on both the music and the hearts of those who knew him. ‘Monument in Time’ is a poignant tribute. This is also reflected in the artwork, designed by Beyond the Pale guitarist Boudewijn de Kraaij. Accompanied by powerful music videos, this EP serves as a cathartic expression of loss, resilience, and the strong bonds forged through music.
Beyond The Pale invites fans, friends, and the metal community at large to join them in honoring Jeroen van Donselaar's memory and celebrating the global release of ‘Monument in Time’ on April 27th. The EP will be available on all major streaming platforms, with physical copies available for purchase as well. A special release show will take place on March 9 at De Vorstin in Hilversum.
