The scion of creativity that is BEX is back with another bass-heavy, nu-punk cut - ‘Sum Kinda Syko’ - which details her experiences with harassment in the scene.

“"Syko" represents someone who crossed boundaries,” she says. “What started as admiration slowly turned into something overwhelming over the course of two years. This person began crossing lines in ways that became unsettling, with their behavior becoming increasingly invasive. I brushed it off for a while, but one night, things escalated beyond what I could ignore, and I realized I was in a dangerous situation. ‘Sum Kinda Syko’ reflects my experience with harassment, unwanted attention, and how this person couldn't accept boundaries. Syko is a reminder of how quickly things can go from harmless to threatening.”

The blatantly obvious nature of the track means its point cannot be avoided, exposing a situation that many people have ignored and being iconic with it. BEX says “Every single lyric is true and meaningful. This track is a lyrical masterpiece, it's so blunt and honestly comedic when you read the lyrics alone.”

‘Sum Kinda Syko’ will be available in physical form on a CD, which incorporates all of BEX’ 2024 singles alongside a specially crafted bundle of merch which includes a zine, two t-shirts, a beanie and a tote bag, all lovingly designed by BEX. The bundle is available to pre-order now.

BEX is a punk rocker who believes DIY is the solution. BEX sings about her experiences in the world as a woman, emphasising the all-too-present inequality in the world. BEX sings, screams and engages the crowd with her in-your-face, head-turning stage presence, which you can witness in the flesh at her debut headline show at London’s Omeara on 1st November, as well as supporting WARGASM in Stoke later that month. Her fans are her purpose and together they create a new world of safety and enjoyment, even if it’s just for one night. BEX has been tearing up stages left and right throughout 2024, including incendiary festival sets at the likes of 2000trees, The Great Escape, Download and Burn It Down.

‘Sum Kinda Syko’ follows BEX’ 2024 singles ‘Taste Better’, ‘sunDae’ and ‘Fight’ this year, which saw her receiving spins on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio, as well as getting lots of love across the internet. Her explosive debut EP ‘SCUM’ was released via Scruff of the Neck Records towards the end of 2023. The collection features a clutch of tracks which saw the mega talent catapulted to recognition, featured as “Next Wave” on BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists with Jack Saunders.

BEX’ creativity knows no bounds and is at the very core of her being. Her uniquely inspired visions can be seen across diverse and prolific audio, visual and wearable creations. Merch items are designed and stitched by BEX herself to be true one-offs; she’s even given her bass its own patchworked leather jacket! Music videos are conceived and directed by BEX, really giving an insight into her motivations and mind. Stages are adorned with charity-shopped creepy doll toys to make even an intimate show feel like it’s taking place within BEX’ own alternate reality.
