Coming at you from Newport, South Wales, FAILSTATE etched their mark on the scene in 2022 by swiftly gaining strong recognition for their emotive sound that binds massive riffs and super hooky choruses with an animated live performance. With glowing comparisons to Funeral For a Friend, Boston Manor, and Holding Absence, FAILSTATE soon caught the ear of BBC Radio 1, who supported their singles: Losing Sleep, and Another Ghost. The industrious quartet then went on to play three sold-out hometown shows and even landed a coveted spot in the top 10 of Kerrang! Radio’s “The Deal” competition.

By the summer of 2023, the band were primed to release their debut EP, Sad Truth, along with the music video for the lead single, Are You Lonely? Widespread EP acclaim with media outlets and international radio support soon followed, along with further sold-out live performances. FAILSTATE rounded off the summer period in superb style with an acoustic performance at 2000Trees festival and the hard-working four-piece ended the year with the single, Scar, and a series of highly successful live shows.

With momentum on their side, FAILSTATE headed to the studio to record their engulfing new single, Lifeguard, in their hometown of Newport with Richard Jackson (The Automatic, The Nightmares, Midasuno). The band remark about the track: “’Lifeguard’ epitomises the Failstate sound - big riffs and hooky vocals in a unique blend of nostalgic emo & 2000’s alternative rock. It’s framed by elusive lyrics about being there for your friends and loved ones through the struggles of mental health.”

Recent shows with the likes of Jump the Underground, As December Falls, and Saint Agnes, alongside the quality of their new single, keenly illustrate the band’s growing stature and trajectory for 2024. With another run of shows in the pipeline, along with HMV in-store appearances, FAILSTATE are ready to rise, steady and high.
