Amphettamine Delivers a Dark Post-Rock and Industrial Gothic Single “Total Eclipse of the Heart”
Drawing from the original song’s emotional depth and Amphettamine’s existing body of work, this release embraces a darker, cinematic feel.
Amphettamine, the solo project led by Amandha Ribaski, returns with a striking new release: a reimagined version of Bonnie Tyler’s timeless classic, “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. This haunting interpretation brings out the melancholic and tragic undertones that have always resonated with the artist, stripping away the romanticized view often associated with the song.
Staying true to Amphettamine’s signature sound, the cover blends post-grunge, gothic, and industrial elements, crafting a dark, immersive atmosphere. The single’s cover art—a hyper-realistic human heart—further embodies the raw intensity and sorrowful essence of the track.
Transforming such an iconic song was a challenge. After 22 different versions, Amandha carefully reconstructed the track to align with Amphettamine’s unique aesthetic. Collaborating once again with producer Aly Fioren, she achieved a sound that perfectly captures the deep emotional weight of the lyrics. The release is also marked by an eerie coincidence—a total lunar eclipse happening just days after the song’s debut, making it a fitting soundtrack for those mourning lost love and navigating emotional darkness.
For Amandha, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" tells a story of heartbreak, disillusionment, and the deep psychological toll of lost love. Her version amplifies the pain, sorrow, and emotional decay hidden within the original lyrics, giving listeners a cathartic and immersive experience.
Drawing from the original song’s emotional depth and Amphettamine’s existing body of work, this release embraces a darker, cinematic feel. The upcoming eclipse served as a visual and conceptual inspiration, reinforcing the themes of inevitability, transformation, and despair.
This single marks Amphettamine’s first release since the 2023 debut album. Following this, another cover is set to drop soon, while Amandha is actively working on the second full-length album. Founded in 2020, Amphettamine is a deeply personal project, delving into dark, real, and everyday struggles through moody, atmospheric melodies. With influences spanning post-grunge, gothic, and industrial music, Amandha Ribaski continues to carve a space for authenticity, raw emotion, and sonic exploration.
