Today, with the release of “Walk With Me” featuring Alejandro Escovedo, NYC singer-songwriter Diane Gentile has announced her highly anticipated new album, ‘The Bad and the Beautiful,’ out September 15th via Velvet Elk Records. A captivating collection of vignettes, ‘The Bad and the Beautiful’ showcases Diane's signature blend of sharp wordplay, juicy narratives, and classic NYC rock n' roll swagger. Her songs are a scrapbook of emotionally evocative scenes, each carefully soundtracked with her literate flair. Throughout the album, Diane delves into the realms of private pain and unquenchable longing, exploring the lives of endearing yet poetically flawed protagonists. Her love for humanity shines through as she crafts beautiful and complex characters who exist in the duality of being both "bad" and beautiful.

The album's lead single, "Walk With Me," a stunning duet with Alejandro Escovedo, showcases Diane's poetic lyrics, beautifully contrasted by the moody Americana sound. With seamless vocal exchanges and harmonizing choruses, the two singers pass the baton seamlessly, painting a vivid picture that exudes a literate-punk rock flair: "All those tattoos on your skin/Hiding scars deep within/You don't tell anyone about it/It's all color and design to disguise them.”

Diane’s songwriting is heavily influenced by a diverse range of artists and literary legends, including David Bowie, Lucinda Williams, The Rolling Stones, Henrik Ibsen, and even William Shakespeare. Her creativity has been shaped by the distant lyrics of Bowie, the honesty of Williams, the danceability of The Rolling Stones, the realism of Ibsen, and the tragic drama of Shakespeare. Her sensibility has been further rounded by the attitude and emotionality of punk rock - a culture she's been intimately a part of for many years in New York City. Diane is a fixture around town as a performer and a taste-making music professional.

Throughout her career, Diane has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Richard Lloyd, Steve Wynn, Jesse Malin, Tommy Stinson, and Lucinda Williams. She has collaborated with Escovedo, Jesse Malin, Steve Wynn, and Chuck Prophet. Diane's music videos have premiered on rollingstone.com, and her single "Motorcycle" was recognized as the "Coolest Song in the World" by Little Steven's Underground Garage Sirius XM channel.

"The Bad and the Beautiful" was produced by Diane in collaboration with Merle Chornuk at Atomic Sound Studios. The album also features additional production by James Maddock, Jesse Malin, and Oscar Albeis Rodriguez. Diane's band of Gentle Men, including Colin Brooks on drums and Jason Victor on guitar, deliver a powerful and dynamic sound that perfectly complements Diane's introspective lyrics and captivating melodies.

A native New Yorker, Diane Gentile grew up in Flushing, Queens, surrounded by a musical family. Her early exposure to music, coupled with her innate talent, led her to become a self-taught pianist and songwriter from a young age. Over the years, Diane has honed her craft while working in the music business, gaining invaluable knowledge of the industry and nurturing her passion for songwriting.

‘The Bad and the Beautiful’ reveals the stories of Diane and her community of artistic eccentrics. The album presents characters who test boundaries, push limits, and navigate the complexities of life with a touch of glorious tragedy. From introspective folk-rock tracks like "Dance 'til Dawn" to gritty NYC to gritty NYC rock 'n' roll anthems like "Shimmy" and "Sugarcane," Diane's music traverses a rich musical landscape, capturing the essence of her vibrant and diverse influences.

Diane is excited to embark on regional tours in support of ‘The Bad and the Beautiful’ and is already contemplating her next musical endeavor. With her insatiable drive to constantly evolve and learn, Diane is determined to push boundaries and continue creating captivating music that resonates with audiences.

Stay tuned for continued updates.
