ALBUM REVIEW: Rip Room - Alight and Resound
There is a frenetic urgency and haste with time signatures thrown about like confetti. It reminds us of just how exciting guitar composition really can be and why it matters in the first place.
Landing on the mathier end of post-punk, everything slots together in short, sharp jabs, all played hard.
The musical arrangement featured in Loose Ends is a bass-driven composition with half-sung/half screamed vocals. The song’s lyrical theme is a political statement about Donald Trump.
Worth Repeating is a DIY-style track. It’s garage rock approach and sound will appeal to a wide range of audiences, not just punk purists.
There’s some interesting almost competing vocal interplay at times.
It sees them paying due respect to bands such as Hüsker Dü, Sleater-Kinney, Fugazi, Dead Kennedys and Sonic Youth, whilst forging their own path.
Energising stuff!
