ALBUM REVIEW: Monkey Intrusion - Pussycats And Monkeymen

Monkey Intrusion, an Italian independent rock band, has just released their debut album, “Pussycats and Monkeymen”. This 13-track album, crafted at JORK Studios, takes listeners on a journey through a variety of rock genres, blending elements of hard and progressive rock, metal, and alternative.

The band’s six pre-released singles – 'The Brighter Side', 'Police of The Soul', 'Fire Dancer', 'Life', 'Hard Times', and 'Bad Love' – have already garnered positive attention from both the press and fans. These singles set the stage for an album that delves deep into the human psyche, exploring themes from personal strife to dystopian fantasies.

Opening with 'Ouverture', the album provides a musical prelude to its diverse tracks. 'Cicuta Weston' stands out with its hallucinatory narrative reminiscent of the works of Philip K. Dick, the famed science fiction writer known for his explorations of altered realities and dystopian futures. The syncopated beats of 'Off Beat' offer a path to self-discovery, while 'Lady Death' grips you with its raw intensity.

'Rio Portrait' begins as a tender ballad before unexpectedly surging into fierce emotion, only to retreat back to calmness. The infectious groove of 'Dogs Are Eating My Legs' captures the madness of solitude with a sharp edge. The album’s finale, 'Revolution', is a mesmerising 7-minute-35-second epic that leaves a lasting impact.

“Pussycats and Monkeymen” is a compelling debut that highlights Monkey Intrusion's range and creativity, making it a noteworthy addition to the rock music landscape.

By day I'm a Leaks, Condensation, Damp and Mould Resident Liaison Officer and by night I'm CRB's admin bitch, reviewer extraordinaire, point and hope for the best photographer, paperclip monitor and expert at breaking anything technical then expecting Scott to fix it!

I'm into all kinds of music the more obscure the better (my music taste is definitely better than yours 🤪😜) with my fave band being The Wonder Years.

I'm an Ipswich Town fan and have an unhealthy obsession with hedgehogs!
