ALBUM REVIEW: Lucias Malcolm - Past, Present and Future Regrets

Call Me Malcolm vocalist Lucias Malcolm steps out on his own with debut solo offering "Past Present and Future Regrets" the record steps away from Call Me Malcolm's Ska/Punk sound allowing Lucias to show a different dimension to his vocals.

Featuring classic Pop Punk melodies the album crashes in with frantic, pulsating urgency. Capturing feelings of regrets and the impact of previous misdemeanors. It's the soundtrack to a misspent youth and questions of whether things will change or if the future will be filled with as many regrets as the past.

Boasting infectious hooks, mega riffs and undeniably catchy lyrics. Lucias' voice is stunning, putting the rawness of Call Me Malcolm neatly on a shelf to offer something different and more rounded.

From the off "Past, Present and Future Regrets"  is an absolute banger, every track an anthem with bold, captivating exuberance. The lyrical themes channelling angst and battles with inner demons. Think Menzingers meets Alkaline Trio with a splattering of early The Wonder Years and you're getting close to describing Lucias' sound. Every song is as fresh and exciting as the next with crashing drums, epic guitars and circle pit erupting qualities.

Blasting in on the intoxicating 'Kill With Fire' it sets the full speed precedence of what's to come. 'Zero-Sums Games' gives off Less Than Jake vibes. 'No Spoilers, But Everyones Dies and the End' battles pain and the desire to start over, the need for closure. 'Lost Signal' captures the notion of hopelessness, the expectation that life won't change, fake happiness and the repeating cycle of endless suffering. 'Fight Scene' blasts with attitude. "105.9 Self Pity FM' questions what's wrong and why you can't alter your mindset, clinging onto life unable to change direction, self esteem getting lower and lower; "you're weak and you lack potential". 'A Love Letter to My Future Self' is a 45 second burst of partial positivity and partial "fuck you" to those who have wronged us. End track 'Lefina' is melodic, chaotic, noisy with killer guitars.

In a nutshell "Past, Present and Future Regrets" in an anthem machine, you seriously don't want to rest on your laurels, you need to hear this record!
