After the successful release of their debut single, IDLE TONGUES are back with a new track ‘HOSTAGE’
Dark and aggressive - Hostage looks to cement Idle Tongues as one of the UK's top new Rock bands. The song explodes into a riff with a mid-tempo groove that the listener will find impossible not to headbang to. It's dirty and raw — inspired by Royal Blood and Muse.
Described by the band as being fierce and cut-throat, Hostage was given a more raw approach to the production with a focus on their energetic and guitar-driven side to making music, allowing frontwoman, Natalie Allen, to deliver a more distorted and punchy vocal compared to the band's more delicate debut single.
Hostage is about the craving of a tainted love that you’re chained to. When you thirst for someone so much, that it doesn’t matter how much they continue to make you suffer. If an opportunity to escape were to present itself, would you break the chains or stay blinded by the light? Every decision you make leads back to the same state of constant torture: Wanting to break free but not being ready to let go.
The track aims to turn the listener’s angst and pain into screams by exploring themes of desire, pain, desperation, and feeling trapped. The lyric “better off dead, but you won’t lay me down to rest” referring to the need for the other person to sever the connection in order to move on.
Idle Tongues worked closely with Bruno Cæsar at Takiis Branding to create the artwork for the new single. Taking inspiration from the lyrics and meaning behind the song, Bruno was able to capture the carnage and beauty that is Hostage.
Hostage is the second of 4 singles that will drop in the next 6 months.
The track was self-recorded, produced, and mixed by the band.
