Aberdeen emo trio PALEJOY release new single ‘I Bet Heaven Isn't Real At All’
It's been quite the formative year for Palejoy, playing shows across Scotland and sharing stages with some of the finest up and coming bands the country has to offer, including a sold out headline show of their own. All this off the back of just two demo releases, a "viral moment" on X, and all driven by a DIY ethos.
Palejoy's focus is now firmly set on releasing the music that has been met with a warm reception in a live setting. Where better to start than with their brand new single I Bet Heaven Isn't Real At All ? Packed with raw emotion, the track is a personal one to guitarist and vocalist Dale. Written about the impact he felt following the passing of his Grandfather, it unpacks themes of sadness, anger and self loathing throughout.
Despite the grey city skyline and dull weather, Aberdeen is a city lacking when it comes to producing emo music, surprisingly. Step forward the Scottish music scene's newest addition, Palejoy.
Composed of members of Broadsea and Alkanes, the tight-knit trio pull influence from personal experience to create introspective and vulnerable lyrics, combined with heart wrenching emotion and raw guitars and melodies.
FFO: Microwave, Hot Mulligan, Basement and Jimmy Eat World.
