"Océanos Sangrientos" represents the state of mind of El Kintano and La Venerea at the current moment of their career, to captivate new audiences through their new raw and visceral Post Punk sound. His Post Punk sound was created in 2022 in order to make the new songs sound different from his previous work “Situaciones Perversas”, due to his change in production and mastering. EL KINTANO Y LA VENEREA has been part of numerous bands and projects in the past, but this was the moment to take on his own personal project to show it to the world in a different way.
In this new interview, we talk about his music inspirations, curiosities and future plans. Check it out bellow:
Where did you get the idea for the project name? The Kintano and the Venerea have no specific meaning, It's a character from stories of surrealistic fiction that we invented with our friends in high school.
Why did you want to play this genre? I come from the Rock & Roll scene and grew up with it, it's the music I've always wanted to play, I don't see myself playing any other style, as it wouldn't fit with my life style.
Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that? I personally have never felt stage fright, on the contrary when I go on stage I feel at home, I know other musicians who suffer from it, my advice to all those who suffer from it is to go out and play thinking that they are alone playing for themselves.
Your favorite band? Guns & Roses.
Who or what inspires you to write songs? I am often inspired by personal situations that occur to me or in real or fictional stories that I can see in series or documentaries to give an example, since I have no fixed pattern to create the songs.
How was the recording process of the album? The songwriting process for me was simple, as I play all the instruments myself, I have it very clear in my head how a rhythm guitar or a lead or a drum break has to sound. Obviously I had to repeat some takes because I wasn’t convinced by the first one. All the instrumental parts, in order not to lose the feeling of the instrumentation, I play them from beginning to end, in the studio I don’t make any punctures, if I make a mistake I record the track of the instrument in one take. The guitars in this case, I didn’t know how they were going to be, I had the sound in my head, I sat down, they appeared in my hands and I recorded them, the truth is that it was incredible, I’m very happy with the result.
What bands inspired you the most? Guns and Roses, Janes Addiction, Judas Priest, Soundgarden or Nirvana in Rock, And in the Punk Dead Boys,Misfits,Ramones or the Sex Pistols.
How is the independent and underground scene in your country? The scene is very big in Spain since I started playing at the end of the 90's, the most problematic thing has always been to be able to make a place for yourself since there are so many bands, Also since the music industry has changed with the new technologies, there is even more scene.
